Well, spring is here and summer is just around the corner. This means our yearly rituals of preparing our gardens, yards, camps and outdoor activities have begun. With these activities and the rush to get things accomplished, us Northerners sometimes tend to overdo it and injuries occur.
Cold Laser Therapy (CLT) is an exciting, new therapy which can help heal those injuries. CLT is safe. Treatments help accelerate injury repair as well as reduce pain and inflammation. Our Theralase laser unit is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light energy and turns it into chemical energy by the body to increase soft tissue and nerve healing, increase blood flow, decrease pain and inflammation for acute and chronic conditions, plus many other health benefits.
Shoulder pain/rotator cuff /Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS): Marvin, 60 years old, injured his right shoulder with carpal tunnel symptoms of numbness and tingling into his hand. An assessment revealed weakness to the muscles in the rotator cuff, with an inability to raise his shoulder above 90 degrees and he was in pain. The grip strength test showed a decrease in strength tips. An MRI of his shoulder revealed a partial tendon tear. X-ray of his neck and shoulders revealed arthritic changes and deformities to the neck. Marvin was told it could take 4 months of waiting for surgery, but he couldn’t wait that long with the pain. After 12 treatments, Marvin was re-evaluated; his strength improved and he had no more pain.
Knee Pain and Arthritis: John has has knee pain off and on for 15 years. His arthritis and pain was getting worse. He wanted to avoid drugs and surgery because the drugs has not helped him in the past. He came in for 20 laser treatments and the pain was gone. No drugs. No surgery. He was happy and could sleep at night and go up and down stairs again, pain free.
Sciatica pain: Mark, a 60 year old male patient, came in with numbness and pain down both legs. X-rays revealed a vacuum deformity (pressure on the disc) at L5/S1, and he was told he needed spinal surgery to relieve his pain. Mark wanted to avoid surgery, keeping it as a last resort. Mark came in for 15 laser visits over a one month period, and was given specific back mobilization exercises. He has experienced no numbness or pain, no weakness down either leg, and was able to return to work, without losing any income or time off work. He is happy again, and able to play with his kids.
Smoking Cessation: Smokers using Laser have over a 90% success rate for quitting when using our protocols and our behavior modification to lose the urge to smoke, reduce stress and detoxify from the side effects of smoking. We recommend two sessions within 2 days of each other and a third booster if needed. Our patient’s success speak for itself…
